There are 16 chapters describing surgical procedures and therapies, ranging from anatomy and biological bases to osseointegrated implants, peri-implantitis and many other topics. 

It should be noted that Arthur Belém Novaes Júnior recently received a Lifetime Certificate from the Brazilian Board of Periodontology, in recognition of his services to dentistry and especially periodontics. 

In his preface, Prof. Arthur Belém Novaes quotes: 

"In conclusion, we think it's necessary to remind you that most of these considerations are known to the
periodontist, surgeon or clinician involved, but it's necessary to emphasize them to avoid the surgical act
becoming an isolated procedure."
